Cigarette Smoking Could End by 2030
New data has shown that cigarette smoking in London will be virtually wiped out by 2030 if people continue to quit at this current rate. According to official figures from the Annual Population Survey, smoking prevalence in London was 15.2% in 2016, and declining at a rate of 3 percentage points every 4 years which would put prevalence below the target of 5% by 2030.
There are around 1.3 million smokers in London and roughly one in three adults want to give up. A new stop smoking helpline has been launched for Londoners, who want to get professional help and support.
